Childrens Book Festival 2014

A busy October this year, looking forward to going to Clare, Cork, Wexford, Carlow and Kildare! All organised by our fantastic libraries and the wonderful CBI!

 

Graiguenemanagh Town of Books Festival 14th September

Dubray Books Kilkenny

Tuesday 5th March I will be in Dubray Books Kilkenny meeting some of the classes from Presentation National School. A lovely school and a lovely bookshop!

Galway – World Book Day

On Thursday 7th March I will be in the Kilcoona National School in Galway as well as Dubray Books in the city. Looking forward to this.

The Sue Nunn Show KCLR

This Friday, 17th August 2012, I will be reading the newspapers and chatting about the Arts Festival event in Dubray Books with Sue Nunn on the Sue Nunn Show on KCLR from 9.00 a.m.

Kilkenny Arts Festival 2012

On17th August this year both Tom and I will be at a Kilkenny Authors get together at Dubray Books in Market Cross – looking forward to that.

October Childrens Book Festival

This year I am going to be in libraries in Kildare (visiting 13 libraries last count!!) Meath and, of course, my home city Kilkenny!

CBI 

On Saturday 19th May at 12pm, at the National Library on Kildare Street I will participate in a Panel Discussion as part of the CBI National Conference. The theme is ‘childhood influences’,  the writers who  we enjoyed as a child and who continue to influence our work. Dr Pádraic Whyte is chairing the session and the other panellists are Alan Early, Geraldine Meade, Denise Deegan and Debbie Thomas.

The CBI conference is a great one and I attend it each year – first time as a participant though!

West Cork Literary Festival July 2012

I have been invited to take part this July in the West Cork Literary Festival. A great festival and I feel honoured to be part of it in such a wonderful part of the world.

I will be running two workshops for children (very little children!) on the Sights, Sounds and Stories of Africa on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th of July in the Bantry Library.

St John’s School Ballybough

During February and March the Fifth and Sixth classes at St. John’s School are doing my book as a class project. I will be visiting the school during March to talk to the pupils about what they have done, and am looking forward to that.

Kilkenny School Project

On the 19th of this month, October, I will be meeting with the 5th Class pupils of Kilkenny Project School at the Kilkenny Book Centre. Thanks to Siobhan of the Book Centre for organising this, I am looking forward to it.

The following day I’ll be seeing the 6th Class from the same school – included in which will be one of my nieces, Aine O’Neill!

Mountains to the Sea Monster Book Lunch

I will be taking part in this wonderful festival on 10th September this year. Take a look!

Tallaght Library 25th May – Africa Day

I have been invited to Tallaght Library to help them celebrate Africa Day on May 25th. Looking forward to it.

Meeting with Castlecomer Fifth Class on 13th April, through the wonderful Castlecomer Library.

Visit to Dublin Bookshops 18th March

On Friday 18th March I will go to various Kilkenny bookshops with Walker representative Conor Hackett to meet the children’s booksellers and sign stock.

Book Launch – Kilkenny Book Centre 12th March

There will be a launch of The Butterfly Heart on Saturday 12th March at 7.00 p.m. in the Kilkenny Book Centre. Siobhán Parkinson, the Children’s Laureate, will appear as a guest speaker.

Celbridge Library 11th March

I have been invited to talk to students from St Patricks National School in the Celbridge Library on the 11th March. The talk is for their fifth and sixth classes. Looking forward to meeting them.

Stonehouse Books and John’s Senior School  7th March

Stonehouse Books has organised a reading and Q&A for 5th and 6th classes from St. Johns Senior School in Kilkenny. My children attended the school so I am delighted to be able to give something back in some small way.

World Book Day 3rd March

3rd March is the day that The Butterfly Heart is actually being released and on that day I will give speak to three different groups of children in Loughboy Library, Kilkenny
